Connie will not be holding office hours during finals week. She will be holding one extra set of office hours on Friday April 29 from 12-2pm in the ATOC Office. Also, remember that Professor Tessendorf will not be holding normal office hours during finals week, but rather will be holding one two-hour office hours session on Monday May 2 from 9-11am.

This week is the last week for you to correct clicker points that were not attributed to your name. Thus, if you have been using a clicker and perhaps it didn't get registered to your name properly or you changed your clicker during the term and clicker points have not been recorded on CU Learn, you MUST inform Professor Tessendorf this week as once finals week begins and final grades start to get calculated it will be too late. ALL CLICKER POINTS THROUGH TODAY'S CLASS ARE NOW POSTED FOR YOU TO CHECK ON THIS. Unless you contact Professor Tessendorf by her office hours on Monday May 2 to correct a problem with your clicker points, these points as posted will be final and used in your final grade.

25 April

Professor Tessendorf is interested in gathering some information from the class to help improve the course. A survey (not related to the formal class evaluations) is now posted here that is worth 20 bonus clicker points if it is filled out completely and turned in DURING CLASS Thursday April 28 only. This form will not be accepted by email or outside of the class period Thursday--no exceptions!

The grading scale posted online as a link on the Grades page of this site is an adjusted scale from that printed in the syllabus and is the scale that will be used for final grades. Thus, no extra credit or other curving will be done, as this adjusted scale is already quite lenient.

Professor Tessendorf will be holding normal office hours this week and next week. However, on finals week (beginning May 2) she will only be holding one set of office hours and they will be held on Monday May 2 from 9am-11am. This will be the last office hours that Professor Tessendorf will hold for the Spring 2011 term.

If you have questions about the Weather Notebook or class content, see Connie during her office hours on Mon and Wed from 3-4pm. Clicker quiz points and all non-quiz clicker points to date have been posted on CU Learn. Please make sure your clickers are registered so that your points are being credited to you. Please see Professor Tessendorf after class if you are still having problems. The first two clicker quizzes were each worth 27 points (3 pts per question, 1 pt for answering the question and 2 pts for answering it correctly).

22 January

Homework #1 is now posted on the homework assignments page!

20 January

Chapter 3 lecture notes are available on the lecture notes page.

A PDF version of the Chapter 2 powerpoint is available here.

REMINDER: Clicker quizzes could start next week! Make sure to have your clicker in class, and have it registered online already! Starting next week I will not be giving any clicker participation points other than those recorded by your clicker responses! Make sure you set your clicker to the right frequency before class (BA) also to make sure your responses are recorded. Just a reminder, non-quiz clicker points can only help your grade, so missing some here and there is okay. Clicker quizzes on the other hand will hurt your grade, although the lowest two scores will be dropped if you happen to miss a quiz or two. There are NO make up clicker quizzes!

Professor Tessendorf will be on travel next week (Jan 25, Jan 27) and Professor Cassano will be teaching class in her place. There will be no office hours that week though. If you have questions, please go to Connie's office hours on Mon or Wed from 3-4pm in the ATOC office (Gate 7 Stadium).

A PDF version of the Chapter 1 powerpoint is available here.

REMINDER: Register your clickers online via CuConnect. I've posted the points from today's clicker questions online at CULearn. Please go check and see if you have points from today. If not and you were in class answering clicker questions, your clicker is not registered or you may not have set it to the right frequency. Remember that these points can only help your grade, not hurt it. There were 4 participation points awarded for today (one per question) if you answered all of the questions. If you had your clickers and answered the questions correctly, you earned an additional 1 point per correct answer.
