Politics

Ahhh....here's a pic with me and my buddy dub-ya (heavy sarcasm intended)

.

Where do I start?  First off, I'm an independent, so I'm not biased toward either party.   I can say that both the Democrat and Republican parties have some good philosophies.  Unfortunately, the actions of most politicians in both parties run contrary to their party's beliefs.   For the past 5 years, Republicans have been in control, and they have failed our country miserably.   I've decided to write up some Republican Philosophies to remind the idiots in congress what they are supposed to stand for.

Now that Democrats have won the majority in the 2006 midterm elections, I'm cautiously optimistic.   It's certain that they will improve things in our government; the question is, how much?   After all, most of the Democrats are lazy too.  I predict that we'll gain important progress in environmental laws, prosecution for unethical government and corporate behavior, relations with the U.N. and the Middle East, civil rights.....ok pretty much everything,  but I don't think the changes will be huge.   Regardless, the election results were still something to be excited about.

It is sometimes difficult to compare a Democrat and a Republican and decide who is better (or less-bad) for our country, but thinking about George W. Bush is a no-brainer (no pun intended).   No matter how you look at it, George W. Bush is dangerously bad for the health of our country.

So in summary, both the Democrat Party and Republican Party have admirable philosophies.  Unfortunately, most of the "Democrats" and "Republicans" in our government are lazy sell-outs.  There are a few noteworthy politicians who are hardworking.  I listed a few respectable folks that I know of below; I'm sure there are a few others too.

Barbara Boxer (D-CA)
Russ Feingold (D-WI)
Barack Obama (D-IL)
Ken Salazar (D-CO)
Arnold Schwarzenegger (R-CA)

Anyways, here are some informative websites that can provide insight as to how our incumbents are doing.   They can be helpful come next voting season.
